Family Friday, August 2017 (7-9PM):  Community Potluck Gathering ~ Meet and eat with your community of extended family (open to the public)!  Bring a dish to share and your own plate, cup, and utensils.  We'll provide a wild-foraged dish to share and medicinal herbal teas, an intentional space to tune in, slow down, and engage in mindful and lively discussions.  Erica will lead a plant meditation using our "plant of the month" tincture or salve, which will be given to all students. We sometimes also have products available for sale and/or trade.

Foraging Saturday, August 2017 (9AM-4:30PM): Food as Medicine ~ We'll learn how to identify some of the seasonal and nourishing wild plants, seeds, nuts and mushrooms to feed the body. We discuss the nutritional value of the wild food we find, learn how to harvest ethically, responsibly and safely, and discuss the traditional and ethonobotanical uses of wild food. We break for lunch (not provided) midday for about 45 minutes, then continue our day with other lessons, activities, and nature-based meditations.  While we spend the entire day outdoors, we aren't moving the entire time.  We can accommodate all levels of physical activity.  A light snack and hot herbal tea made from wild in-season plants are always provided.

Fusion Sunday, August 2017 (9:30AM-4PM): Processing and Cooking with Wild Foods ~ Discover how to incorporate the plants, nuts, and mushrooms that we learned about on Saturday into your regular diet.  We'll spend the day slicing, dicing, and baking some of the tasty edibles we found in the wild, transforming simple ingredients into delicious and nutritious appetizers and entrees.  Some tricks of the trade, including preservation techniques, will be shared.  We will break for lunch (not provided) midday for about 40 minutes, then continue our day with an urban foraging and plant identification walk followed by more time in the kitchen.  Lights snacks and herbal tea made from seasonal wild plants are always provided.  At the end of our time together, we'll get to sample on some of the dishes we prepared in the kitchen!
