Family Friday, September 2017 (7-9PM): Community Potluck Gathering ~ Meet and eat with your community of extended family (open to the public)!  Bring a dish to share and your own plate, cup, and utensils.  We'll provide a wild-foraged dish to share and medicinal herbal teas, an intentional space to tune in, slow down, and engage in mindful and lively discussions.  Erica will lead a plant meditation using our "plant of the month" tincture or salve, which will be given to all students. We sometimes also have products available for sale and/or trade.

Foraging Saturday, September 2017 (9AM-4:30PM): We'll focus on learning to identify plants for healing simple physical ailments such as body aches and pain, inflammation, cuts, burns, and bites, and to boost the immune system.  Medicinal properties of plants and mushrooms will be shared using a combined approach that relies on traditional ethnobotanical wisdom, modern herbalism, and western medical science. We break for lunch (not provided) midday for about 45 minutes, then continue our day with other lessons, activities, and nature-based meditations.  While we spend the entire day outdoors, we aren't moving the entire time.  We can accommodate all levels of physical activity.  A light snack and hot herbal tea made from wild in-season plants are always provided.

Fusion Sunday, September 2017 (9:30AM-4PM): WE, the Medicine Makers ~ Learn how to make simple home remedies from the plants and mushrooms that we discover on Saturday. We'll spend our time in the kitchen processing and creating simple medicines such as salves, lotions, tinctures, syrups, and teas.  We'll also learn how to made a medicinal mushroom extract. We will break for lunch (not provided) midday for about 40 minutes, then continue our day with an urban foraging and plant identification walk followed by more time in the kitchen.  Lights snacks and herbal tea made from seasonal wild plants are always provided.  At the end of our time together, we'll get to sample some of the things we prepared in the kitchen!
