Ancient Brewing: How to Brew Herbal Beer (10/10-21 3-5PM)

$20.00

Fermentation is a useful way to preserve fruits and herbs, and brewing beer is just one of many ways to ferment. Long before IPAs and lagers dominated the market, a wide array of fruits, flowers, and herbs were used to make beer—before the extensive use of hops, bitter plants such as mugwort and dandelion were used as flavorings. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to brew with medicinal and sacred plants and fruits. Making your own brew is fun, and much easier than you might imagine! If you want to learn more, please join me for this 2-hour brewing workshop. We’ll turn locally available plants and “weeds” into tasty herbal beer known as gruit.

I have been brewing beer and wine for almost a decade. In this workshop, I’ll teach you about the properties of some of the plants that I like to use, and we’ll run through the entire process of brewing small-batch beer from start to finish. At the end of our workshop, you’ll get to sample a couple of my home-brews.
